Social networking sites
November 4th, 2007

Now if anyone who really knows me knows I really hate social networking sites with a vengeance. Sites like, bebo, myspace, birthday reminder, where are you now, myspace, facebook and twitter used to just do my nut in. Most of them still do but there are a few i’m starting to ****. That is censored because I can’t really bring myself to say it.
I had to set up a myspace site for my Enterprise computing course so i realised again why I hated it. The look, the navigation, the music, the pictures….all of it just infuriates me. I was looking at my cousins bebo site today and that’s gone the way of myspace which again is shit.
Our man Steve put me onto this twitter malarky which i’m really enjoying. It’s just a mini blog that i can update via several methods. It just allows for my mini rants and to update people on my business. I guess it’s just a little outlet for me, kinda like this blog is but twitter is on a much smaller scale.
Facebuuu….Facebooo….Facebook. OK, yea, OK, yea….OK yea I like facebook….kinda. I don’t like the applications, tonnes of shit which mean absolutely nothing and just clutter up a page and are worthless. Constant notifications, people inviting you to compare books, films, cocksizes; Poking people, sending them drinks, kisses….GRRR!!!!! I guess the saving grace, the one thing that actually makes me use it is the fact so many other people use it. You get to find out what everyone is upto and talk to them somewhere that they will actually see it. No matter if you have new email addresses or phone numbers, i guess the facebook will remain the same for a while. I’ve just got chatting to loads of people via facebook, from complete randomers to guys i’ve not seen in years. It’s the only good point I will admit to, as I do have principles.

I completely agree with you on Myspace and Bebo, don’t get the point of it and I have yet to find a decent myspace profile.
Facebook is brillian though and I simply love it. It’s so easy staying in contact with a variety of people that you’d normally lose contact to. The groups and events system works really well and there are some decent applications, like the Gamercard, ‘Where I;ve been’ map, etc.
It’s just filtering out the noise…
